Founder of The Veg.and.Pepper

The vision for Veg.and.Pepper stemmed from physical & mental burnout.

Having worked for 10 years as a Commercial Accountant in the City of London I felt this subtle pressure to be on 24/7. My routine revolved around, early starts, crammed commutes, pressure to deliver to deadlines, late hours and then squeezing all my restorative time (if any) into a 48-hour window known as the “weekend”.

Unsurprisingly, in that time I developed increasing levels of anxiety, low mood, recurring gut problems and hormonal imbalances. I found the medical response would often be in the form of a pill, which intuitively I felt was not the real answer for a healthy body or mind.

A pivotal point came after I went on a 10-day Buddhist retreat, and experienced a real shift in my perspective and habits. What stood out most was the emphasis on creating the conditions necessary for transformation. A key part of that for the body, was eating entirely plant-based foods.

For me, this was a game changer. Within a few months of that retreat, I moved my diet towards more plant-based foods – daily green juices, superfood smoothies, beautiful salad bowls and vegetable rich dishes; in no time, the anxiety, the gut issues, and the hormonal imbalances were gone.

From that moment, the seeds of inspiration for the Veg.and.Pepper were planted. I’ve seen first-hand with family and friends what shifting one’s diet can do and my aim with Veg is to make it easier for people to nourish their bodies and ultimately, nourish their lives.

This has been a gift for myself and I’m hoping it will be gift for you and others too.
